So they end up using brute force rather than using there brains to get something out of witnesses and potential suspects, which puts them in a worst position from where they started. A new Detective, Seo Tae-Yoon from Seoul comes to help the investigations and is convinced that a serial-killer is killing the women. And as suspected a third victim is soon found and this helps the new detective to come close to bringing justice for all.

Opinion

I saw this movie way back when it was just making it’s round around the international circuit. It was an appealing way of story telling. Mind you that by this time I hadn’t seen True Detective or any series where we feel how helpless our protagonist is. Loosing was not an option. This series sheds light on how difficult it is to prove a murder. It is not that you are not competent or putting in your whole effort, sometimes it’s just bad luck that you cannot find a single place from where you can start looking for. Cases are not solved within a day or even a week as shown in most series and movies. Sometimes they last long, like really long and this movie portrays in details what goes on in the minds of the investing officers during this time.

Casting was good. Won’t lie didn’t knew any of them when I first watched, but after giving a second watch for this blog, I saw that this movie actually brought is some great South Korean Actors. Park Doo-Man who later not only became a famous actor in his nation but also garnered international fame with Oscar winning movie, Parasite (2019). And guess what, this was also just the second movie of Director Bong Joon Ho, who later on Directed the movie Parasite. I think this director has patience, and does not compromise with the feeling he wants to evoke in his audience when they are watching his movies.

Music is ok. Will not make you remember or discuss post watching.

The Screenplay is something that people might notice and like. But that also might be because we are not used to South Korean Style. Anyways, I liked it.

This is worth your time, on any afternoon, with headphones and subtitles.

If you like this, you might like these as well.
