Deke (Denzel Washington), yearning for closure, after the case that nearly broke him is CA deputy sheriff. He becomes embroiled in the search for a killer who is terrorizing the city. Leading the hunt, L.A. Sheriff Department Sergeant Jim Baxter, impressed with Deke’s cop instincts, unofficially engages his help. But as they track the killer, Baxter is unaware that the investigation is dredging up echoes of Deke’s past, uncovering disturbing secrets that could threaten more than his case. Deke’s nose for the “little things” proves eerily accurate, but his willingness to circumvent the rules embroils Baxter in a soul-shattering dilemma. Meanwhile, Deke must wrestle with a dark secret from his past
Well, this is one of those movies which where your favorite stars are misused. Yes, it might seem hard to fail to deliver a master piece with a cast of Denzel Washington, Remi Malek and Jared Leto. All know to immerse themselves into their roles and deliver their best each time. I mean I think that if you have gave them the script and let them go loose they would have done a better job. The story was slow, no problem with that, but the whole presentation was not appealing at all, specially the ending. Not satisfying at all. It felt like the actors just were given parts of the script and just acted in small scenes. Which later was edited into a movie.
The acting was of course amazing. No doubt about that.
Editing was a miss. Screenplay was also not that good and nor was the direction.
Cinematography was good.
